Still some things to sort out here, such as image loading times and missing links etc!
BUT it is launched!!!! HURRAAH!
Alrighty… so I had the offer in the bag until the CEO wanted to change the role and what they were looking for.
What I’ve learned from this? Things change very quickly and not to mention unexpectedly. Some part of me clings on to hope that it will change again… this isn’t likely.
Back to square 1, and trying to think of some side projects to do while looking for my next opportunity.
I don’t know what just yet, but soon I’ll be doing the 100 days programme, starting in a couple of weeks. I plan to learn how to make gifs, and produce 100 of them! Posting to my instagram as well.
Fingers crossed something great comes out of this!
May 1st, Ben (my wonderful boyfriend) and I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.
It is definitely worth seeing! I laughed, cried and jumped out of my seat …. once…..! It was great! And I love the new titles for Marvel Studios… it’s so cinematic now, I mean the old comic style was great but this … once you see it, it’s different. I think it’s a good thing?
My website is going veeeerrrryy slowly. Just this week I decided to tackle my index page again… to make it better…. then obviously to finish the project pages too! There;s so much to do and I thought it would be launching by now… well the desktop version anyway!
Ah well… it will be up soon, just be patient y’all.
Also I had a fantastic interview …. based in a pub (the job isn’t in a pub… but it was great to have an interview in a pub) I was very relaxed, not nervous and had a really enjoyable experience. I’m waiting to see if the CEO wants to meet me first, before the offer they want to make goes ahead. (I heard tell on Wednesday that they want to make an offer, but the CEO was away ).
8th April 2017, marked the day my Uncle Duncan married the love of his life, a lovely lady called Jennie.
Summer 2016, I offered to put together their wedding invitations, which also included a Save the Date video, a short animation using a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet and Adobe Photoshop. You can see the video here: https://vimeo.com/177128953
Following on with the story and natural scene, I continued this style for the invitations. Albeit a little cleaner and much more refined. Little did I know, that I also would be asked to put together the order of service cover, the table labels, a handmade sign for the photobooth AND at the very last minute, the seating plan.
All of this, was worth it! I would not have had it any other way, to be part of something wonderful, beautiful and amazing. All in all, definitely would love to do something like this again! To be part of a wedding not just as a guest but also as a key asset in ensuring everything looks great was the most incredible feeling I can never express through words. The compliments that followed were humbling, to know a wide audience who came to experience the joining of two people, loved the design and allowed the day to be even more special. The transformation of a section of my design, was put onto a well crafted wooden sign, which I thought was absolutely stunning. The craftsmanship and the feeling I experienced with seeing that, I cannot express in words.
An awful lot has happened since my last post …
My website now looks like this:
A cleaner one page scroll, and hopefully some nice pages for my work to come soon!
The weekend just gone was incredible, not just for the weather but for the biggest event of the year so far.
My uncle’s wedding!
I had lots of last minute assets to design and deliver on time as well as helping make some willow hearts and shortbread biscuits for the big day. All of the photos to come soon! Everyone loved the invitations I designed as well as the printed materials around the reception. To have made a good impression on so many people through design, on my uncle’s big day was a really lovely thing for me to experience, to have contributed to this along with so many others, was a wonderful feeling.
I’m also applying my skills to a couple of freelance opportunities for two local businesses, while I hunt for my next career opportunity in Graphic Design.
So until next time, I will be finishing and launching my website again very soon, creating a best of video of the wedding AND who knows.. maybe some luck is on the way?
Today’s progress has been a lot faster in terms of knowing what and where my content should go (this is only the landing page so far.. I have many more pages to create, but for now… apart from some very obvious images… and possibly copy….) I am almost ready to design the next media query for tablets!
The last couple of days I have set myself to work on my website, to re-design the whole thing and make it work with mobile and tablets as well as desktop.
Today I finally got my menu in position and the way I want it to work!
I’m kind of going for a minimal design, but more so with the character of my logo.
So, here we have a simple 3 bar menu icon designed in pure CSS (honestly, w3 schools is great for these kinds of things to teach you!)
This is the mobile view for the moment, I’m concentrating on the mobile design first to then adapt towards the larger viewports.
My logo in it’s smallest form, and some random text called ‘Hipsum’ from VS Code.
Click on the bars and you get this drop down menu, which overlays the main content. The close button does work!
