Can I just say something about mess?

Mess is amazing!

Mess is chaotic.

Mess is strange.

Mess is messy!

Mess shows personality.

Mess is organised.

Mess is misunderstood.

We are told mess is wrong.

We are told that mess should be tidy.

We are told that everything should have a place, yet with mess everything does.

We are told to put things away once finished with, kept clean and in it’s own space.

Mess is beautiful.

Mess is a way of life.

A kitchen is supposed to be clean because of food preparation.

A bathroom is supposed to look sanitary.

A space is supposed to look clean and tidy.

…………

I say

Embrace mess

Embrace the chaos that comes with mess

And say fuck the other people’s standards and live to your own

The end!

Yesterday’s Mission

Yesterday I got the screen printing room, to start producing not promotional materials for the up coming graduate show, in two weeks time. Complete with getting messy transformed into a tattoo design.

Tuesday and Wednesday Messy Fun Time

Here’s an update on my Major Project:

I found a tutorial online, which shows you how to design and paint your own rustic wooden signs. So, I bought some plywood to test this out by using Acrylic paints and Carbon Paper to transfer the lettering onto the material.

Both of these were featured prototypes on Thursday (Both also failed to communicate my topic which is The Obscure Nautical Phrases / Sayings in our language as everyone who looked at this, thought it was about sign writing or sign painting.)

Oh well…. more ideas to come soon!

Other uni projects are also going well, I’ve had a set back on my Promotion unit where a lecturer called my last logo designs ‘Dumpy’ so I’ve been working hard to make them less so. Digital versions to be made this weekend. ISTD (International Society of Typographic Deisgners) is also pressing forward, I now need to add content to my book about Adrian Frutiger and continue adding the ‘Wow’ factor to my format (which is a circle!)

More Messy Fun Time!

Messy Fun Time seems to be a reoccurring thing on a Friday…… (maybe it’s because I have no lectures on this day!)

I am still experimenting with mediums with my promotion and employability unit, this time my adventures took me to the Screen Printing room, to experiment with my logo. The effects were awesome, and I cannot wait to scan these in to enhance the colours!

(I may already have my favourite!!!!)

Today’s Messy Fun Time!

Following the rule of thumb for my Major Project: Nautical Idioms / Proverbs and my will for experimentation in mixed mediums, I took to the letterpress room and used a rather dark green ink to bash these prints out!
The effects were pretty awesome and took two hours to produce. I may have turned a little into She Hulk, but that’s all worth the fun!

Screen Printing Induciton

Screen Printing Induciton

Just had a screen printing induction, at uni. Really enjoyed the experience and I got absolutely covered in the ink!!!
Just goes to show, you really have to get down and dirty with your work.
