Recently I have been taking my camera out on walks (2 to be exact so far).
The goal is to practice my photography and to learn to use my Canon EOS 1200D camera, which is over a year old now since purchase.
It’s an absolutely lovely camera, light weight and lovely to hold. It’s honestly one of the best things I have purchased in my student years.
I wanted to share with you my favourite photographs so far:
The surroundings where I live, are wonderful and the canal is one of my favourite places!
More walks to come and hopefully more photographs to appear soon!
Dear readers, (if I have some… I honestly don’t know, what’s more important is that I continue this blog on…)
Just recently, my boyfriend challenged me to draw something everyday, seeing as my ‘illustration’ skills need improving.
It’s now Thursday, and I started Monday. He’s also making models for multiple uses for a game each week, and his friend is making his personal project. (My boyfriend is a game programmer, you can see his portfolio here).
So, we’re all in it together! Which is great.
I am also challenging my self to produce a poster, each weekend to keep up my design skills and hopefully produce some different styles, and find my niche with print while also editing my portfolio site to be more responsive and edit down the work, to only my best.
(I might produce a side blog / page for my poster a weekend thing…. OR I might just use my instagram to showcase my outcomes)
Working on my brush control as an experiment, for this style of letter. I am continuing this feel of experimentation and using mixed media to produce my ident for my promo unit. I feel this is going well, my hand is becoming steadier. I still require more practice however, and possibly to try out other colours to experiment with.
My aim with this is to get the best curves possible (I might need to go bigger for this) but the small size is good to practice with. I don’t want to overwork this, but I do want to get it as close to being right for me, as possible.
Wish me luck!
My new challenge for the summer, is to practice my hand at beautiful handwritten typography. I’ve seen lots of examples on the internet and in some of my reference books. It’s something I have wanted to try, now I know more about how type works.
I found this quote by Shawn Lukas online. I thought for my first attempt at hand crafted typography, it would be quite fitting. It was difficult and there is a small mistake BUT I am pleased with it as I know I will get better with practice.
It became even more beautiful in photoshop.
