So far, I have chosen my ISTD brief for my ‘Design Briefs and Competitions’ unit, which will be celebrating the Life’s Work of Adrian Frutiger, a very famous typographer. I chose this one, because I feel that this will challenge me a lot in my design skills and I get to learn about someone who made typography as it is today. (well, some of it).
I have also made progress with my research report and visual outcome, after last week’s one to one tutorial. I have a few photos now to work with, and hopefully after this week I will have some more AND some interviews with people who listen and sell vinyl records!
Pretty exciting stuff!
Walking around Brighton was an inspiration, obviously visiting oddballs and buying new juggling balls and a storage bag it was still a good day out. The visual impacts of The Lanes and stores is incredible! Even the record stores were cramped yet really interesting to look at / walk past.
As well as my uni work, I have been steadily working on a band logo / concept art for my good friend Alex Grassby who is a talented musician and undergoing a final performance. I offered my services last month and this is the progress we’ve made so far. (I would post up my thumbnail doodles and type choices, but this seemed the best way to show of progress without the waffle).
His concept for this performance is all about earth, air, fire, water – Autumn, Spring, Summer, Winter. It’s a really interesting theme that I’ve been trying to play around with. It is still a work in progress, but hopefully something amazing will turn up!
